Step by Step Bunny Wreath Instructions
I have the cutest Easter Bunny Grapevine Wreath Tutorial to share with you today. He’s soooo cute, I know you will want to make one for yourself!
Grapevine Bunny Shape Construction Supplies
• Small Grapevine Wreath
• Med-Large Grapevine Wreath
• Grapevine Twig Garland Bundle
• Hot Glue
• Jute Twine Cord
• Wire and Wire Cutters
• Sheet Moss
• Mod Podge Glue Matte Finish
• Ribbon for tail
Step 1: Soak Twig Bundle & Small Grapevine Wreath
To make the twig and grapevine wreath flexible enough to shape, soak in hot water overnight.
Step 2: Form the Bunny Ears & Head
To make bunny ears, cut about 32 inches of grapevine twigs and fold them over to form the ear. Use the jute twine to secure the two ends. Make two ears & tie both ears together with twine.
To form the bunny face, use the twine to squeeze and shape the small wreath while it’s still damp and flexible. Once the small wreath is fully dry you can discard the twine and the wreath should retain it’s new shape.
>Step 3: Attach the Bunny Ears, Head & Body
Attach the ears to the head with hot glue. Then secure the ears by wrapping damp flexible grapevine twig strands several times around the ears and bunny head
The front of your Bunny wreath should look like the picture below. My body wreath was acting a little unruly so I added some twine to hold it together. It won’t show once the moss is added. If you are not adding moss and need to cover any twin that may be showing, you can water down brown craft paint and paint over the jute twine to make it blend in.
Step 4: Adding Moss to the Grapevine Wreath
I started by hot gluing the moss on but I quickly realized that even though the moss was sticking, it shed and would likely continue to shed. Poor bunny would’ve been bald by at the end of the season so I moved onto plan B.
I watered down Mod Podge (about 50/50) and dipped the moss in the glue mixture. I then applied the moss damp with glue to the wreath. You will need to lay plastic down under your wreath because the glue will drip. (I used plastic grocery bags) I let the now shed less fuzzy bunny dry overnight and when I woke up he was perfect!
Step 5: Easter Bunny Wreath Tail
The bunny tail is made with 6 inch wide wired muslin ribbon. Make 4 or 5 loops and secure with wire. If you need help with ribbon making, follow my tutorial on how to make a bow. (tutorial here)
Use wire to attach the tail.
Don’t forget to add a wire to the back to hang. I folded over the end of a long ribbon and hot glued the edge to form a pocket. I threaded a wire through the pocket and attached the hanging ribbon to the back of the bunny with the wire.
Last Step…
He’s sooooo cute y’all and you can decorate him in so many ways.
I grouped some tulips and a few of the faux carrots from last Easter (How to Make Faux Carrots tutorial here)
Use wire to attach flowers and carrots to Mr Bunny and he is finished.
We love him so much the kids and I named him. He is now called Steve. LOL
or if you like him plain…
If you have any questions to create a “Steve” of your own feel free to email me
