It’s the last week of the One Room Challenge and I’m killing it (kidding). I’m up at the crack of dawn working away on the brilliantly thought out projects that are turning out exactly as planned. And it’s not just the projects that I’m slaying, my house and family are in ah-mazing order.
I’m channeling my inner Martha Stewart (the perfect house Martha not the make lots of money and go to jail Martha) as I single handily clean the entire house while simultaneously preparing a five-course meal. The kids are happy, the sweet-smelling dogs with bandanas are happy, the husband is happy, we are all happy happy happy. Ha! I wish. That my friends is what I like to call wishful thinking. (aka total crap)
Actually a few things were true, it is the last week of the one room challenge and I am up at the crack of dawn each day but the rest is total baloney.
This week I’m working feverishly to wrap up the massive and not well planned projects while my family relies on Halloween candy for sustenance. But even though it’s November and the Halloween decorations are still up, the house is a mess and we are fabreze-ing our clothes because laundry hasn’t been done in weeks, we’re getting excited to see it all come together.
Projects…
I’m excited to see the projects get finished, my son is excited to see his room, my husband is excited to see it over and the dogs are just excited because they are dogs. And that is where we are at folks!
As soon as I get off the computer I’ll be going back out to the garage to finish the furniture. The art desk and dresser that I purchased off Craig’s list are almost done.
This is what they looked like at the time of purchase.
I have to tell you both of these pieces gave me so much grief! Every time I thought I was done fixing broken pieces I found another problem. I have spent so much time in the garage this past 2 weeks that it is not even funny.
I also need to finish my painting of our dog “Big Chewie” for the room as well.
And if that was not enough, I still have a 2 special feature walls to finish up and lots more.
My call for help…
With so much to complete, I did call in the big guns for help. For me calling in the big guns means calling my parents. My Mom and Dad are two of the most generous and talented people I know. I’m out of time so gave my bed design to Dad and asked him to build it.
Dad has a crazy workshop in his basement and has a tool for just about everything. The only catch is most of his tools are from the 1930’s
I’m not even kidding, many of the tools were his father’s. (And super cool in my opinion.) Anyway back to the bed, my Dad is kind of amazing and is building a frame to fit some old side boards
Bed Construction
This is just a tiny start. It is going to be really great. Just wait and see!
I can’t wait to show you! In a few days I will be putting this space together. I’m crossing my fingers it all gets done.
Don’t forget to pop over to Calling it Home and check out my fellow ORC participants week 5 progress. You will love all the inspiration in one place!

Can’t wait to see it all!
The dresser looks amazing and I’m so impressed with your dog painting! Your dad’s workshop is dreamy!
Hey Jenny, it may not be Martha land behind the scenes, but from here the projects are coming along amazingly, adore the 3D pup painting and the dresser design is killer. Lovin your vision lady!
Jenny…that DRESSER! It is just fantastic…love the geometric-ness of it. It is going to work so well with the art you have gong on. You are one talented and creative gal.
I cannot wait to see the final result. Josh has to be so excited.
Hugs my friend.
