Would you like some easy outdoor Halloween decorating ideas? The kids and I decorated our home for Halloween this past weekend and I have a few spooktacular ideas you may like!
Spooktacular Branches and other Easy Halloween Ideas
One of my favorite Halloween tricks is to simply pull together tree branches to make a spooky outdoor Halloween display.
Tree branches are easy to find in the fall because it’s the time of year trees are trimmed back. I got lucky this year and didn’t have to shop curb side for tree cuttings because my neighbor gave me her trimmed branches. Of course the landscapers doing the cutting looked at me like I was nuts when asked for them but what’s new?
Give the branches a quick coat of black spray paint, set the branches in a bucket or planter and use rocks to keep the branches in place. Fishing line was used to tie the branches together and to the columns. Fishing line was also used to hang a branch from the ceiling to make the display extra spooktacular!
And of course I pulled out the Dead and Breakfast sign I made last year. (Sign tutorial here)
The final touch for spooky branches was to add these crows from the Halloween shop online at the Oriental Trading Company. Aren’t they perfect!
And the kids were to happy to bring up Clyde and his dog from the basement but we had to give his dog a leash so he didn’t run off.
A little trick to get the dog leash to stay suspended was to use a straighten a wire coat hanger and hot glue it to the bottom of the leash. And if you love those pillows, you can find my tutorial to make them here
Halloween wouldn’t be complete without a witch thrown in somewhere. The witch legs were designed to go into a planter but the hat was not. The witch’s hat started as a plain black hat and I glued feathers, a flower and some black tulle to jazz it up. I stuffed the inside of the hat with foam and used a plant stake to suspend the hat in the planter. It was super easy to do.
We ready now to receive trick or treaters. I can’t wait!!
I hope I gave you a few ideas to help you create some Halloween fun of your own.

Jennifer, it looks like you and your kiddos had so much fun decorating the front porch! I’m sure all your trick or treaters will love your spooktacular decor!!
Oh my goodness…those skeletons are cute. I also love all the touches of flowers. Thank you so much for sharing it at The Crafty Corner link party. I hope to see you there again (new party starts tomorrow at 6 am EST!).
I love everything about this front porch. The branches and crows are genius!
Jennifer, I love the whole thing! Perfectly spooky! Love the skeleton and his dog, the leash is a perfect addition. And that lizard skeleton, so cool!
I love Oriental Trading Company, we had a Halloween party when the kids were young and all our decorations came from there. Rats and spiders and everything eerie. The crows look incredible.
I’m going to be the big kid at your door on Halloween, what a fun home to Trick or Treat!
Oh my goodness, I love your porch! The skeletons are so cute… well, as cute as a skeleton can be anyway! ha ha! I saw some witches legs somewhere recently and didn’t get them… Hobby Lobby maybe… I may have to go back now!!
