Today starts a new series where myself and 10 other bloggers all focus on ways to add curb appeal to our homes. How this works is, over the next two weeks we each share the exterior projects we are working on and then on the third week we reveal the finished look! Doesn’t that sound fun?
I was really excited when this great group of ladies invited me to join in the challenge but I have to admit my first thought was,
“Why can’t it be an exotic vacation challenge?”
Wouldn’t that be a good idea too? I’m sure I could rise to that challenge. I can see the blog posts now; 13 Pina Colada recipes that will make you want to stock up on rum or DIY beach cover up made from recycled materials. I know, keep dreaming right!
While I fantasize about a blog challenge that doesn’t require enormous amounts of work and me sweating buckets, let’s talk about what needs to be accomplished.
My current home is still pretty new so luckily no major repairs are needed. I do however have some landscape issues that need to be addressed. Here is the snap shot I took a few days ago.
Curb Appeal Before Photo
Yes, that is a sled on the porch in May and yes the porch needs some prettying up. In my defense it really did snow here just two weeks ago. True story! But an even truer story is that while it did snow 2 weeks ago my kids haven’t touched the sled since February. I admit it, we were too lazy to put the sled away for 3 months. Clean up front porch is on the list.
I do love the porch on this house and want to play up this feature. Decorating the porch will go a long way toward creating curb appeal. I plan of sticking to the red white and blue theme.

Another project will be to add some creative house numbers. The house address doesn’t stand out. So unless you already know where to look or are a Where’s Waldo world champion the numbers go unseen.
Can you find the house numbers?
Along with the above projects, I am working through several creative ideas to add to the plan. As of right now here is my general list…
Curb Appeal Project List
- Replace dead bushes, Clean up landscaping & Add flowers
- Clean up Porch
- Paint Porch Bench White
- Add DIY planters, Pillows and Fun décor
- Create some sort of Welcome Sign for the Porch
- Add Decorative House Numbers
- Add Landscape Lighting
- Paint the Front Door
- Create a Wreath or Door decoration
- Fix the faded Garage Side Lights
