One Room Challenge Week 5
Here we are one week before the actual makeover reveal. With only one week left to pull it all together, I am getting nervous. A part of me wishes I had an additional 2 weeks to work on the room. But then I look around my house at the dust, dirty dishes and mountain of laundry and I realize it is time to wrap this thing up and get back to the real world. I am very grateful that my husband has been so supportive of this challenge because with the insane amount of hours I have spent working on the room, the rest of the house is falling apart at the seams. Even so, I can honestly say it has been worth all the extra effort. My heart leaps when I see the silly happy grin on James‘ face when he talks about his new room. He is really excited. Two weeks ago I shut the door and hung a sign telling him not to enter until reveal day. He loved the idea of a surprise and has been great about staying out. I hope I don’t disappoint him.
The next several days will be my final push to knock out my list. I have loads of work and several projects still to wrap up. Tomorrow I be stretching a giant canvas to create some special art for James. My husband and Dad have been helping me by creating a cornice for the window and the new desk. I can’t wait to show you. These are the very technical plans I created to help my dad know exactly what I wanted.
Hopefully this should go in this weekend. I still have yet to stain the desk top and shelves.
The wall is done (one hundred hours later) and I completed the headboard today. It only took two tries! I am too tired right now to go into why I had to re-strip and do the whole thing over. I could do a whole blooper post solely dedicated to all the dumb mistakes I have make the last couple of weeks.
I found some great bedding at Target and started playing around with options. The headboard is not set up in this photo. It is actually sits up quite a bit higher.
I have a few things to exchange and lamps and accessories to purchase. The cornice has to be painted and lighting needs to be installed. I have to create artwork and get the desk setup. I hope I can get it all done. Tune back in next Thursday to see how this little room all comes together!
Happy Creating,

Hey there girlfriend…you continue to rock this room. That shark tooth wall continues to impress me every time I see it and can’t wait to see the rest of the room. You’ve encouraged me to up my game for the next ORC Are you going to get to take Mother’s Day off?
Jenny I adore the sneak peeks and I can’t wait for the reveal! I love the direction the space is going in. As a fellow ORC participant it’s been wonderful to gather some fantastic inspiration. I’d love for you to share your progress at Thoughts of Home on Thursday. Our readers would love to see it. The gathering is at http://www.decortoadore.net
Thank you Laura. If I don’t get over there this week, I will for sure next week!
Jenny, I love it! I am so impressed. The entire room is awesome, the wall, the headboard, the bedding, the furniture! LOVE IT! I can imagine you are extremely tired, but it’s gorgeous!!!! Can’t wait for the reveal, for James and us!!!
Oh Nikki I love you. Thank you for stopping by. Yes I’m so very tired my friend. Half the battle has been all the redos from the dumb mistakes I have made. In my rush to get things done, I’ve given myself 3 times the work. I painted the dresser THREE times. I re did the headboard twice. I am not even going to go into how many times I painted over shark teeth. But fortunately those are done and I’m on the last projects this week 🙂
