We are approaching week 3 of the One Room Challenge teen bedroom makeover and it’s official, I am one tired lady. Unfortunately, there isn’t much time to snooze since there is a boat load of work left to be done in the room. This past week, I worked on furniture and again on the feature wall (hand painted sharks teeth). I have 200 teeth down and only 400 to go! Who wants to come over and keep me company? I promise I won’t keep you more than 20 or so hours. You have time right?
I did get a lot done but I’m advoiding the bottom part of the wall. I don’t have any particular reason other than, It is really awkward to paint lying on the floor! But I am committed so I will suck it up and do it sooner or later. The rest of the wall is coming along. However, to keep myself from going completely stir crazy, I took a break and moved onto a few of the other projects. I was able to knock out some of the bedroom pieces this week. Remember the lack luster bedroom set I showed you last week? Here is the nightstand to refresh your memory. Ooooh can I have a dingy 1960’s bedroom set? – said no teenage boy ever.
So I hauled the headboard, dresser and nightstand into the garage and got to work. Well actually, I told Mr. Paint Yourself a Smile to bring it to the garage but that is basically the same thing right?
I was able to get the dresser and night stand done. The dresser and Headboard are still in the garage but as soon as I bring them in, I will post a tutorial for you. You will want to come back for the full tutorial because I think you will like it. Plus, it may be the only time I talk about stripping and bedroom furniture in a blog story!
The pieces turned out great and I can’t wait to show you the whole set. Now I can cross furniture off the list. What list you ask? Check out my overwhelming DIY room project list (here)
On that note, I am declaring week 2 complete; bring on week 3! but first I need a nap. zzzzzzzzz
Happy Creating,

This is the first time I’ve visited your bedroom makeover project. I am in awe of the sharks teeth!!! I can’t imagine how long that is taking you. I once did a hand stencilled pattern in the bathroom and it just about drove me crazy. I can’t imagine…..
As for the nightstand – I love the inlay pattern you’ve created!
That room is going to be so awesome, your son will never want to leave home!
Thanks for sharing on Dishing It & Digging It

WOW that night stand has great features for storage and your interpretation to make it
snazzy is awesome girl. Have seen those tables with that particular feature on sides (the lines on each side). The gorgeous wood top with gray and other details you added give table so much “look at me” appeal.
Have seen tables similar to yours before but didn’t pay any attention, just walked by, shame on me huh? Seeing how wonderful you made your night stand is inspiring me to dig out couple of night stands purchased to fix up over year ago.
They don’t have nearly as nice a shape as yours, hoping to make them better. Finally thanks to your table am getting idea what to do with them. Now if it would stop raining every blasted day could sand and prep them. We don’t have garage or basement so usually do work on back deck. Been needing hubs to do some spray painting for me. Would do it myself but mr. perfect thinks only he can do it “right”.
Really enjoy your blog/projects. Happy weekend

Jenny, The shark teeth wall is amazing! And the bedroom furniture . . .humm. . .all I can say is you must love your son way more than I love mine. mine got the ratty old beat up 1960, 1970 mismatch furniture in the um . . retro state it was currently in. Looking forward to seeing the finish! Whew! What a lot of work for 3 weeks! Thanks for linking up with us for Snickerdoodle Sunday! Pinned to share!

Jennifer I love what you did with the nightstand. It no longer looks like it belongs to grandma, but with the addidtion of the new color and selective painting it looks bright and modern. Good luck with your ORC, I take my hat off to you for your vision of the wall. I once painted circles and stars on a whole room. So I feel you.

Thank you Mary!
